Washtucna Fire Fighters Association Volunteer Firefighter Program
General Information
Washtucna is located in the southeast section of Adams County, approximately 30 miles south of the county seat of Ritzville, Washington. Washtucna Fire Fighters Association (WFFA) is a volunteer department which provides the following services to the town and outlying regions.
- Full Service Fire Protection
- Fire Prevention
- Hazardous Materials Response (HAZMAT)
- Rescue
- Emergency Medical Services
The WFFA responds to approximately 30 calls annually from one station. The department is made up of the Fire Chief, Secretary, and approximately twenty Volunteer Firefighters.
Program Overview
The WFFA Volunteer Firefighters are equipped to respond at a moments notice to
- Building Fires
- Car Fires
- Vehicle Accidents
- Hazardous Materials Incidents
- Field Fires
The WFFA Volunteer Firefighters are trained to nationally recognized standards in the areas of
- Fire Suppression
- Rescue
- Hazardous Materials
- Apparatus Operations
The WFFA Volunteer Firefighters train once a month at the fire station to stay current on their firefighting skills. The monthly training combines classroom sessions with hands-on practical exercises.
The WFFA Volunteer Firefighters participate in several community parades which promote the department. Volunteer Firefighters also participate in community fire prevention activities including grade school presentations, station tours, and general safety presentations.
Minimum Qualifications
Must be eighteen (18) years of age upon appointment
Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent
Must possess and maintain a Washington State Driver’s License, or capable of obtaining one upon appointment
Must be physically and mentally capable of performing the functions of a firefighter
