Within the Washtucna city limits there are several parks for visitors to enjoy.
Amenities range from regulation horse-shoe pits and overnight camping in Bassett Park, to picnic areas and restrooms for travellers in Snyder Park. Other park locations include Stark Park with a covered picnic area, Pioneer Park for those who would like to pause along our walking path, and the Sunflower Park which greets visitors on the north end of town.
Bassett Park is well known among ornithological and Audubon societies across the state as a great birding location. The park attracts a wide variety of migrating birds, including some rare finds.
Area recreational parks include Lyons Ferry and Riperia for both boating and fishing, and Pampa Pond for fishing only.
Nearby Palouse Falls State Park offers tremendous hiking opportunities with first come first serve camping available. The Columbia Plateau Trail State Park has an office located in town though the Washtucna section’s phase is not yet developed.
All of these parks are within a half hour drive from Washtucna.
Eastern Washington is also home to two National Wildlife Refuges: Columbia National Wildlife Refuge and the Turnbull National Wildlife Refuge. Both are only an hour away.
