The annual Fourth of July Celebration began in 1976 as a way to join other communities across our state in celebrating Washington’s Bicentennial.
Each year locals and visitors alike come together to commemorate our nation’s Independence Day on the Fourth of July here in Washtucna. The day kicks off bright and early at 6 a.m. with breakfast served in Bassett Park by the Washtucna Firefighter’s Association. The sausage, eggs, and pancakes can be washed down with your choice of juice or coffee. Come early and enjoy a peaceful breakfast in one of Washtucna’s beautiful parks.
Linger in the park or meander around town until the parade starts. Opening the celebrations at 10:45 a.m. is the Kiddie Parade, followed by Washtucna’s Grand Parade. Enjoy entries from all around the region while the little ones make a dash for the candy offerings tossed from floats and firetrucks alike.
At high noon we celebrate the stars and stripes as the Boy Scouts raise the colors in Bassett Park. The flag ceremony kicks off the lunch time service of BBQ, served each year by the Washtucna Lions Club.
Enjoy the shade of Bassett Park while throwing horse-shoes, relax and take in the entertainment, or cool off at the Washtucna Pool, which offers free swimming in the afternoon.
At dusk it’s a bring-your-own fireworks show at the football field for all to enjoy.
